ICMS@100

Welcome to the website of Ipswich Chamber Music Society. We hope you will join us in our centenary year to 'celebrate the old and embrace the new'. The centenary season includes performances of some of the great works of chamber music: Schubert’s Piano Trio no. 2, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and Mendelssohn’s Octet for Strings. We look forward to the future in our commission of a chamber work by Sebastian Black, an acclaimed young composer, educated in Ipswich. We continue to offer a diverse range of music and chamber groups and ‘firsts’ for ICMS are a two piano concert and a concert of baroque music.

All our concerts are held on Saturday evenings in Great School (the main hall) at Ipswich School. With its excellent acoustics, raked seating and clear sightlines, Great School is an ideal venue for chamber music. Refreshments are available during the interval at each concert. Audience members are welcome to park for free in the school grounds.

We encourage people to buy a season ticket, which offers tremendous value for money and this year includes a complimentary centenary commemorative booklet. Please use the application form on this website. Tickets for concerts can also be bought at the door, please consult the tickets and venue page for more information.

We also have a Friends scheme for those who wish to support ICMS financially, and we are always very pleased to hear from potential sponsors of individual concerts. Donations and sponsorship are extremely important in enabling us to engage performers of the highest quality while keeping ticket prices as low.
